Tesla Dominates Electric Vehicles Sales in the US

The Tesla Model 3 is the most popular EV model in the United States.

As of 2024, the top-selling electric vehicles (EVs) in the U.S. are led by Tesla, which continues to dominate the market. The Tesla Model Y is the best-selling EV, followed by the Tesla Model 3. These models are known for their impressive range, advanced technology, and strong performance. The Model Y, with its spacious interior and versatile cargo space, is particularly popular among families and those needing more utility.


In 2023, Tesla achieved a significant milestone by delivering a total of 1,808,581 vehicles worldwide. This marked a 38% increase compared to the previous year. The majority of these deliveries were attributed to the Model 3 and Model Y, which together accounted for approximately 1,739,707 of the total deliveries. The remaining deliveries consisted of the Model S, Model X, and other models, including the newly introduced Cybertruck.


Other notable top-selling EVs include the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which offers a blend of performance and practicality, and the Hyundai IONIQ 5, known for its unique design and impressive fast-charging capabilities. The Volkswagen ID.4 also ranks highly, appreciated for its affordability and spaciousness.


Rivian has made significant strides with its R1T and R1S models, appealing to those looking for electric adventure vehicles. Meanwhile, traditional automakers like BMW with the i4 and Mercedes-Benz with their EQ series are also gaining traction in the U.S. EV market.
